Chicken Meat Made From Peas

Every week lately
I am reading about meat being made from vegetables. Landcorp is looking at extracting protein from grass and there is a company in Auckland making "chicken meat" from yellow peas. There is no doubt that we will be looking at more substitutes like this in the near future. I remember years ago somebody telling me that feeding protein into an animal so that we could then eat the animal was about the most inefficient thing we could do. That may be so on flat land suitable for horticulture but on the steep country I think our animals have a secure future.
